Bafgh is the capital of Bafgh County in Yazd province. The population as of 2016 census was 50,893.
The majority of people work in iron mines as the iron stone of Bafgh is very famous in Iran. It also has various other mines which provide good working opportunities for the people living there.
Farming is the second most important job in the area and then carpet weaving.
The main food produced here are dates and pistachios.
